It’s that time of the year again! Hot weather, sunshine, and beautiful skies! What better way to spend your summer other than going on a field trip? This is why I’ve compiled a list of the TOP 5 PLACES TO VISIT IN ARIZONA, places that not many tourists have heard of and that are sure to bring you plenty of quality time with friends and family, and ensure that you get your much needed vacation spent wisely. Just be sure to bring plenty of water with you – it can get hot!
5. Petrified Forest National Park
Number 5 on the list is the Petrified Forest National Park. Located in the northeastern part of Arizona, it is often dubbed the “Rainbow” Forest, due to an enormous presence of different colors engrained within the scenery. With a huge expanse of beautiful and quiet scenery, this ideal vacation spot is sure to be breath-taking for you and your family! Having a rich historical background, and plentiful presence of petrified wood, it includes a variety of scenic stops and trails that take you on a trip of a lifetime!
4. Window Rock
Window Rock, AZ, located on the Navajo Nation and several minutes away from the border of New Mexico, is a place that provides a variety of different attractions. Arguably the most stunning thing to do is visiting the Window Rock Tribal Park. The Navajo Nation Museum and Zoological & Botanical Park are minutes away from each other, and provide insight into many of the many animals living on the Navajo Nation, as well as the history of the area. The best? All of these attractions are free of charge!
3. Canyon De Chelly National Monument
Visit Chinle, AZ and take a hike throughout Canyon De Chelly. Canyon De Chelly, a huge park, allows for a wonderful hiking and sight-seeing adventure! Hike down and visit the “White House Ruins”, an important historical and cultural site whose history goes back thousands of years. If walking is not your thing, there are many car-friendly drives throughout the rim of the Canyon, allowing for a beautiful and peaceful drive through the breath-taking Arizona desert!
2. Meteor Crater
Located 37 miles east of Flagstaff, the meteor crater is sure to impress and astound everyone! Being one of the most well-preserved meteor crater site, take a guided tour of the crater, or even touch a piece of the meteor that hit Earth many years ago!
1. Saguaro National Park
Located in Southern Arizona, Tucson, it is a literal forest filled with the beautiful Saguaro Cactuses. Visit the tourist center, or take a drive through the forest! With many trails and scenic stops, it is a sure place to get those picture-perfect photos for your entire family! Don’t forget to bring plenty of water though, as the temperatures can get very hot!
