My journey into the captivating realm of theatre began with a transformative experience at Cirque du Soleil’s mesmerizing production of “KA” in Las Vegas, NV. Entranced by the magic unfolding on stage, I found myself drawn into a realm where imagination reigned supreme, igniting within me a deep-seated interest in the humanities, particularly acting, stage management, and playwriting.
As I sought to obtain a deeply grounded academic background in the Biological Sciences, I also felt an ever-growing desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those around me by pursuing a minor in Theatre Arts.
Through my undergraduate studies at the University of New Mexico, I was able to take part in multiple theatrical productions, including “The Bat” where I acted as Stage Manager during the production process. Under the guidance of world-renowned Director Erik Ehn, whose illustrious career spanned the realms of avant-garde theatre, I participated in the design, implementation, and execution of the theatrical production. Erik Ehn’s visionary approach to theatre challenged conventional norms, leading us to delve deep into the concept of “immersive theater”. From interactive performances to multi-sensory installations, each aspect of the production was meticulously crafted to evoke emotional resonance and thought-provoking introspection.

My immersion in theatre has underscored for me that the Humanities serve as the vital human element through which all other aspects of life find expression and connection. Recognizing the significance of the Humanities as the human element through which everything else flows is crucial because it highlights the intrinsic value of empathy, understanding, and cultural appreciation in shaping our world. By acknowledging the central role of the Humanities, we cultivate a deeper appreciation for the diverse perspectives, experiences, and narratives that contribute to our collective consciousness of humanity. Such understanding fosters empathy, promotes cross-cultural dialogue, and empowers individuals to navigate complex social dynamics with compassion and insight. Moreover, embracing the Humanities as a cornerstone of education and society enriches our capacity for critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and ethical decision-making, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and interconnected global community.
